Information for non-german speakers
Welcome to the blog of a cello orchestra called "I cellisti appassionati" (meaning "passionate cellists") ! Indeed, we are big fans of our stringed instrument and enjoy practicing together and having concerts every now and then. The orchestra was founded by Matthias Wallmann in 1998 and has since grown to a group of more than fifteen cello enthusiasts (and counting !). We are rehearsing quite regularly every two months as a preparation to our concerts which mostly take place in summer season. The pieces we play vary quite a lot; our music stretches from the early renaissance and baroque era (Haussmann, Gastoldi, Bach, Pachelbel, ...) to romantic pieces (Grieg, Schubert, Goltermann, Goedicke, ...). Additionally, we play a lot of folklore from all over the world and modern music, e.g. The Beatles, tangos, and bossa novas. Some of the music is specifically composed for cello orchestra (e.g. Le Phenix by Michel Corette), but most is arranged by us to fit our style and setup. We are both professional and amateur players who simply enjoy making music together; there are not many instruments that allow forming an orchestra only out of these such that the audience experiences the sound as "complete" ! Sometimes we have company from Marion Heuer, who plays the piano and the organ. Michael Selbach started off with the cello as well, but now sometimes plays the double bass and the campanula(Picture, German site), a cello-like instrument, but with much more strings. You can contact us in English or in German, we'd like to hear from you !
