Poland? Wtf?
Ok, maybe some people will ask why I, the official Finland fan, never been to Eastern Europe, that can't speak any Slavic language, is about to go to Poland. Well, easy thing: When I'm back in Germany, I basically have to do my diploma exams (scary) and my diploma thesis (double scary). So right now it's probably the last possibility to do an internship abroad, at least as a student. Off course I wanted to stay here in Finland and applied for two internships and sent my CV to the university's career service. Well, you see I tried my best, but still I was rejected in Rovaniemi and so far Helsinki doesn't even bother to answer (I applied in the end of February). The career service, well, nothing better. I even sent an e-mail to Hessa and asked, but no reaction. And to be honest, now I'm a bit, hmm, annoyed. And then, I visited the IAESTE web pages. IAESTE is a non-profit organisation that organizes internships for students abroad. Normally the application deadline is in November, what I obviously missed, but they announced that there were still more than 200 places available. So I started exchanging mails with them and it was all confusing and chaos and including writing an application within one hour in an internet café in Riga, but whatever. Now I applied for an internship in the Institute for Material Science at the University of Lodz, Poland. 11 weeks, starting the 15th of June. Now I'm waiting for an answer from them. We'll see... Altogether, I'm kinda thrilled and enthusiastic about it, let's see if it's my usual "There's something new, I'm soooooo excited"-habit or if it will last longer than two weeks.
