The Sixth

Hello, back after a long time. Fortunately the story of the antic vases of Augustusburg castle carries on. After putting on the red lead priming coat , two coatings ; an additional primer , light green has been put on and a first layer of the finish. The areas where the gold will be going were covered with a shiny yellow lacquer. The gold leaf is so thin , only 1/1000 mmm , that any other color would indeed shine through. On the photos the golden parts seem not to have any clear borders , what they in fact really do not have. Clear lines will only be done by the final coat of dark green paint. The guilding will be done by Ms.Becker of " Blattgold ". This is the link to see her on the web : www.blattgold-becker.de If everything goes according to plan , the vases should be back in the castles parc in about two weeks time. To be continued.
