update

wow! it looks like quite a few people are coming here. Not that anything interesting is up... oh, but you can take a look at what i'm doing by clicking the following link:Blackice's Webcam Yeah, anyway... I'm writing my extended essay on the development of the .NET technologies by Avalon, Indigo, Yukon and the .NET framework v2.0 Avalon is the new graphics interface. It replaces Windows Forms (despite the name, it is supposed to be platform-independant, but lets not go into that...). Avalon includes such initiatives as XAML, which stands for eXtensible Application Markup Language, which allows people to create UIs (User Interfaces), in a sort of XML-langauge. This is great because it allows web programs to integrate directly and seamlessly into the shell environment. Also, it simplifies the development process and allows for great UI tweaks ;) Avalon is also supposed to provide 3d-enriched features, allowing for nice looking reflections and the "carousel view" seen in older builds of Longhorn. Part of Avalon is WinFX, the new graphics system aimed specifically at Windows Longhorn. It allows for nice dropdown-shadows and transparency effects, and includes such programmes as the DCE (Desktop Composition Engine) and DWM (Desktop Window Manager... I think). Indigo is basically a "revolutionary"(*cough, cough*) networking system. It's basically P2P (Peer-to-Peer, connections and transfers via a serverless connection). Yea, it really just allows you to connect to loads of different systems and quickly retrieve only the data you need. I can't be bothered to do the rest because I have work to do, but rest assured that I'll develop on these things as time goes on... BLACKICE
